7 Things to Do with Books Besides Read Them
Friday, January 7th, 2011I almost titled this post Books: Not Just for Reading Anymore. E-books are on the rise and dead tree versions are quickly being recycled into all manner of other objects. This week’s article in the New York Times about decorating with books is the latest evidence of a clear trend.
Here are 7 things I’ve come across that you can do with (print) books besides read them. Have you seen others?
1. Wear them
Too bad this artist doesn’t appear to be making these book spine bracelets anymore.
2. Burn them
This entrepreneurial soul turns book spines into kindling and sells it on Amazon.
3. Build with them
4. Write in them
The folks at Re-cover Journals make beautiful notebooks from old book covers. (Also check out their photo albums from made from vintage album covers.)
5. Make art with them
Wow. Mind-boggling creativity and beauty using books in all kinds of ways. the image above is just one sample of the many pieces on view.
6. Store stuff in them
You, too, can make a secret hollow book.
7. And oh yes, decorate with them
When books simply must match your colour scheme.
